Resin floor for car wash: non-slip PMMA system.
A complete renovation of a car wash in Fidenza: four wash bays were upgraded with a new PMMA resin system, slope correction, and a non-slip finish, as well as painting six vacuum bays.
The intervention was organized to ensure high performance in the continuous presence of water, detergents, and vehicular traffic, minimizing business downtime.
From support preparation to slope restoration
The work began with a thorough mechanical preparation of the concrete, essential for removing unsuitable surface areas and creating the right conditions for the new resin cycle to adhere.
Particular attention was paid to the slopes of the four washing areas , which were restored and corrected to correctly convey the water towards the grates and collection channels, reducing stagnation and critical points.
Media control and humidity management
Before applying the new coating, we checked the substrate conditions and the concrete moisture level. In environments like car washes, where water and humidity are a constant presence, this step is essential to correctly define the preparation and priming cycle.
After the checks, the necessary repairs and surface preparation were carried out, creating a uniform base suitable for the subsequent application of the resin system.
PMMA resin system for car wash areas
On the four washing bays we created a multi-layer PMMA resin system , chosen for its speed of hardening and the performance required in a car wash.
The cycle includes priming, restoration and regularization of the substrate, skimming, a quartz-filled resin layer and a non-slip pigmented finish.
The result is a seamless, durable, and easily washable surface, designed to withstand the typical conditions of a car wash: water, detergents, vehicular traffic, and frequent wash cycles .
Non-slip finish and new color
The blue finish has completely transformed the look of the pitches, maintaining a non-slip texture suitable for frequently wet surfaces.
The choice of cycle is therefore not merely aesthetic: thickness, roughness and finishing system are defined based on the conditions of use of the flooring.
Redevelopment of the suction pads
The intervention also involved the six areas dedicated to extraction , for a total surface area of approximately 100 m² , which were subjected to preparation and subsequent protective painting.
In this way, the redevelopment involved not only the four wash bays, but also the main operational areas of the Car Wash, keeping the downtime of the business as short as possible.
